<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

Upstream marketing is a strategic area of social marketing that focuses on changing structural factors, such as policies, regulatory environments, corporate practices, and physical environments, that shape people's opportunities for healthy behavior. Unlike the traditional downstream approach, which focuses on individual behavior, upstream strategies address the 'causes of causes' of public health issues. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the academic literature on upstream marketing in healthcare from 2017 to 2025. The article analyzes theoretical models, empirical cases, implementation barriers, and application prospects. Special attention is paid to the Russian context, where the concept remains largely unexplored, despite its potential synergy with the national projects 'Healthcare' and 'Demography' (from 2025 'Long and Active Life', 'Family', and 'New Health-Saving Technologies'). The review identifies key research gaps and suggests areas for further exploration.
